This is the wording that comes from the control panel itself:

"This tool will allow you to create and manage additional FTP users on your domain. An FTP user is an additional login that will have access to a subdirectory of your website.

For example, you may choose to create user bob. bob will have an FTP login to your domain, and have access only to yourdomain/bob/ if you so choose. You may also opt for bob to have access to all of your files as the case may be for a web developer."

You shouldn't your main username and password since those are the key for making major changes to your account.
Here is how to add an ftp user to your account:

1. Log into your control panel.
2. Click on the image that says FTP User Manager
3.  Click the link at the top that says "Add User."
4. On the next screen type in the needed information.
     - The Username and password needs to be what you decide your new user will login with, NOT your main username and password.
     - The Quota box is where you allocate how much space they can have.  It is in MB.  If you want them to have 500 MB, just type in 500.
     - The Starting (Home) Directory is where you need to type in the path to the directory you want them to access.  If you leave it blank, it will default to the root directory. The root directory is the directory you see once you click on "File Manager" in your administrative suite.

So if you have selected a directory you want them to upload to and it's located at www.yourdomain/bob  then you would need to type in the path to the bob directory like this:  domain-www/bob/
(remember that your username goes where we have typed "username" and your domain goes where we have typed "domain")
